The good news is, if you are very specialized in what you do it’s unlikely there are too many other people like you out there seeking the same job. Focus your resume distribution efforts on the few positions you really want and feel you are most qualified for. Sending out a lot of resumes is probably a waste of your time.
After the resume is delivered
The most important thing to remember after you are finished with resume distribution is that follow-up can really mean a lot. A few days after you submit your resume, take a minute to either call or email to check in. This will show the employer that you really are eager to take on the job, and might make you stand out a little more. If nothing else, they will recognize your name when they do come across your resume. If they have already seen your resume, you might earn yourself a second look.
